The president of Lehigh Carbon Community College will be taking a leave of absence to have heart surgery, according to a school spokesman.

Don Snyder told college trustees Thursday night that he will be undergoing quadruple bypass surgery next week, spokesman Sean Dallas said Friday.

Ann Bieber, senior vice president for administrative services for LCCC, will be acting president while Snyder is on leave, Dallas said.

Snyder has been president of the college since 2000.

"The college is coming together to wish Snyder the best for a speedy recovery," Dallas said.
