Folks hit the road Saturday to help a brave boy who's battling a rare disease.

Riders participated in the seventh annual Ride for Adam at the Schnecksville Fire Company in Lehigh County.

The event is a fundraiser for the Race for Adam Foundation, which is named after Adam Recke.

Adam suffers from "Niemann-Pick Type C."

It's often called "Children's Alzheimer's," because its symptoms and progression are very similar.

Organizers want to raise awareness about the disease, which affects only 500 children around the world and has no cure.

The money raised today will help fund research projects.
