ALLENTOWN, Pa. -

Hockey fans who will be filling up the new arena in Allentown will have a chance to put their names on part of the building Thursday.

The Lehigh Valley Phantoms are inviting fans to sign one of the steel beams being used in the construction of the PPL Center.

Another beam was signed last month by local leaders after the unveiling of the team's logo.

Thursday's beam-signing ceremony for the fans starts at 5 p.m.

It will be held at the top of the spiral parking deck at Eighth and Linden streets, which overlooks the arena site.

The arena is expected to be completed in time for the Phantoms' season in September 2014.
