Two Northampton County schools are scoring high marks from Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett.
On Tuesday, Gov. Corbett was in the area to present the Governor's Award for Excellence in Academics to two schools in the Wilson Area School District.
Williams Township Elementary School and Wilson Borough Elementary School were both honored.
Based on the 2012-12 School Performance Profile, Williams Twp. Elementary scored a 92, which was the highest in the district and the fourth highest out of all the schools in Northampton County.
Wilson Elementary scored a 91; the fifth highest in the county.
“These schools demonstrate the exceptional commitment and dedication of students, parents, taxpayers, teachers and administrators in preparing our children for a successful and bright future,” Corbett said.
Gov. Corbett is traveling across the state to hand out the awards to high-performing schools.
428 schools in the Commonwealth scored a 90 or better on the School Performance Profile.
