Luis Nieves makes dozens of threatening phone calls after fight with Jose Bracero, police say
A man made numerous hostile phone calls to a man he was living with for almost 20 hours after the two had fought, officials said.
Luis Nieves made threats in almost three dozen phone calls to Jose Bracero and his wife, after he and Bracero got into a fight at about 12:15 a.m. Thursday in a home at 404 Old Forge Drive, Bath, Northampton Co., officials said.
When Bracero threw Nieves out the house, Nieves grabbed a pipe from the back of a pickup and said he wanted to bash in Bracero's head, officials said.
Bracero eventually went the hospital for treatment of an injury to his left eye, caused by Nieves trying to gouge his eyes, officials said.
Bracero finally called police at about 8 p.m. Thursday and played several of the more than 30 phone messages from Nieves containing the threats, which included decapitation and cannibalism.
At that time, Nieves called Bracero and made another threat while unknowingly speaking to an officer, officials said.
Nieves, 44, was arraigned early Friday morning on charges of making terroristic threats, assault and harassment and committed to the Northampton County Prison on $7,500 bail, according to court documents.
A preliminary hearing is set for 3 p.m. May 24.
