Luis Santiago-Nieves sentenced to 20-40 years
Participated in killing of another man in south Allentown
Luis Santiago-Nieves of Allentown was sentenced Friday to a total of 20-40 years in prison for his participation in the death of another man.
The sentence includes 20 to 40 years for a third degree murder charge and five to 10 years on a robbery charge, said Lehigh County Assistant District Attorney Steve Luksa. He added the sentences will run concurrently.
Santiago-Nieves pleaded guilty in November to holding down 39-year-old Edgardo Fuentes Rosado, as Jefran Canales Tapia allegedly shot Rosado several times.
The crime happened in February 2013 at the Wynnewood Apartments on Emmaus Avenue.
Police said it was a drug-related robbery. According to court documents, footprints and a trail of blood in the snow led police right to Santiago-Nieves, who lived at the nearby Riverbend Apartments.
Tapia, who also was captured, pleaded guilty in December to conspiracy to commit robbery. His sentencing scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Jan. 24 .
