HELLERTOWN, Pa. -

People living in part of Northampton County may be affected by some upcoming maintenance projects.

The Hellertown Borough Authority, which provides water and sewer system to the borough of Hellertown, has announced plans for two water system maintenance projects.

One will involve the removal of four large valves on Polk Valley Road, near the Saucon Valley School District campus. Work will begin on August 4, and residents should anticipate some roadway restrictions in the area.

While the valves are being excavated, the Authority will have to turn off water to portions of the system. Affected customers may be without water for three to six hours on one or two days. The Authority says it will attempt to contact customers who will be affected ahead of time.

Around the same time, another contractor will start working to repaint the outside of the Authority's above-ground water storage tank on Apple Street. While the painting is being done, the tank will be empty. But because there is a second water tank, there should be no disruption of service.

Customers can call the Authority office with any questions at 610-838-8051.
