A man reached through a car window and choked a woman woman he was arguing with and then threatened her life during a phone call after she had driven away, officials said.
James L. Gruppo choked the woman who was in the passenger's seat of a car in the parking lot of a gas station in the 100 block of Pennsylvania Avenue in Bangor, Northampton Co., around 8:15 p.m. Sunday, officials said.
Gruppo told the woman, "You're dead," and cursed at her as she was driven away while he was holding on to the vehicle, officials said.
Gruppo then called her cell phone and stated he would "get" her and kill her boyfriend "and stomp his face in," officials said.
Court papers do not say why Gruppo was arguing with the woman, or what their relationship is.
Gruppo, 51, of 609 Broadway, Bangor, Northampton Co., was arraigned on charges of making terroristic threats, reckless endangerment and harassment and committed to the Northampton County Prison on $10,000 bail, according to court documents.
A preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. Dec. 26.
