Man stole cash from mother and stepfather's home, police say
A man made off with $500 in cash after burglarizing his mother and stepfather's home, officials said.
Cody Auerbach took the money after forcing open a strong box in the home of his stepfather and mother at 1936 Ferry St., Wilson, Northampton Co., early Sunday afternoon, officials said.
Auerbach's stepfather, David Werkheiser, told police he and Auerbach's mother had a Protection From Abuse order against Auerbach, and that Auerbach had lived with them and had a history of theft, officials said.
Auerbach was seen by a witness around 1:30 p.m. entering the home using a set of keys, officials said, adding that the witness said Auerbach was in the home for about 15 minutes.
Auerbach, 18, was arraigned on charges of burglary and theft and committed to the Northampton County Prison on $1,000 bail, according to court documents.
A preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. Oct. 28.
