Man who beat up girlfriend had warrant against him for endangering her, police said.
A man who dragged his girlfriend through the living room and kitchen of their apartment had a warrant against him for endangering her, officials said.
Keneef Dennis was taken into custody in the apartment he shares with his girlfriend in the 400 block of Broadway after a foot chase that criss-crossed Wyandotte Street in heavy traffic around 4:45 p.m. Saturday, officials said.
Dennis, who initially told investigators his name was Kaneef Muhammed, started running when police tried to arrest him, after they were called to the scene by the victim's grandmother, officials said.
The victim told police that Dennis, whom she has been seeing for a year, slapped and punched her several times during an argument, and then dragged her around the apartment by her feet, officials said.
After arresting Dennis, police found there was an active warrant for his arrest out of Northampton County on a charge of recklessly endangering his girlfriend, officials said.
Dennis, 19, was arraigned on charges of assault, harassment, giving false ID to police, disorderly conduct and escape and committed to the Northampton County Prison on $20,000 bail, according to court documents.
A preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. Aug. 7.
