A man who tried to dodge police by hiding behind cars is facing drug charges, officials said.
Hector N. Rentas Jr. was taken into custody after being found lying prone in the back yard of 526 Alaska St., Bethlehem, around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday following a foot chase, officials said.
Rentas fled when he was ordered to stop by police, after twice being spotted ducking behind parked vehicles in the area of Itaska and Alaska streets, officials said.
Officers found 55 bags of crack cocaine, a Newport cigarette box with a chunk of crack inside a plastic baggie and a baggie of marijuana near a vehicle parked in the 500 block of Alaska Street where Rentas had tried to hide from police cruisers, officials said.
Rentas, 22, of 116 East Madison St., Easton, was arraigned on two charges of drug possession with intent to deliver and committed to the Northampton County Prison on $35,000 bail, according to court documents.
A preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. Oct. 2.
