Man with knife, pepper spray threatens to kill 2 people in his home, police say
A man holding a knife in one hand and a can of pepper spray in the other threatened to kill two people in his home by incinerating the house with them in it, officials said.
Richard Rivera called the man a "punk" and said he would cut the woman into pieces while holding a knife with a 3-inch blade and a can of pepper spray in his home in the 900 block of Garibaldi Avenue, Washington Twp., Northampton Co., around 7 p.m. Wednesday, officials said.
Rivera then said he would burn down the house with the man and woman in it while they slept, officials noted.
Two toddlers were in the home at the time of the incident, officials added.
Court papers did not explain why the two people were in Rivera's home, or what their relationship to him is.
Rivera, 48, was charged with making terroristic threats and harassment and was committed to the Northampton County Prison on $10,000 bail, according to court documents.
A preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. July 25.
