The State Theatre Center for the Arts is gearing up for the 2014 Freddy Awards, the 12th year of the program recognizing and rewarding exceptional accomplishments in the production and performance of musical theater in high schools in the Lehigh Valley and western New Jersey.

The 2014 program will feature 31 schools, the most in the programs history, and will include a first time appearance by Lincoln Leadership Academy Charter School.

The 2014 Freddy Awards program will culminate in a three-hour television awards ceremony on Thursday, May 22 from the State Theatre. Produced in partnership with WFMZ Channel 69, the show will be broadcast live from 7-10 p.m. on WFMZ and on the web at wfmz.com. Ed Hanna of WFMZ and Shelley Brown of the State Theatre will host the ceremony.

The Freddy Awards broadcast has been honored with two regional EMMY Awards along with numerous other recognitions.
