BETHLEHEM, Pa. -

An upset in Northampton County means Bethlehem Mayor John Callahan will not have a hand in local politics come January.

Bangor Mayor John Brown, a Republican, defeated Callahan, a Democrat, Tuesday night.

Callahan called Brown to concede the race around 10:15 p.m.

Brown has worked in the business sector for more than 30 years, according to his Facebook page.

The Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce named him mayor of the year in 2011.

Brown also serves as a member of the Pennsylvania State Mayors' Association, the Slate Belt Economic Action Team, and the RenewLV board of directors.

Brown and his wife, Tina, have one son, Zachary.
