A New York man was caught with crack cocaine after a foot chase that ended in a struggle with police behind a church, officials said.

Javon A. Wynn was found 16 plastic bags with crack cocaine, $103 in cash and a cell phone after he was cornered by police in a wooded area south of Shiloh Baptist Church, 400 David St., Easton, around 11:35 p.m. Saturday, officials said, adding Wynn continued to struggle after he was captured.

Wynn started to run after police contacted him in the 400 block of Centre Street while investigating a report of a suspicious activity, and Wynn told them his name was Johntay Taylor, officials noted.

Wynn, 23, of New York City, was arraigned early Sunday morning on charges of drug possession with intent to deliver, giving false ID to police and resisting arrest and committed to the Northampton County Prison on $35,000 bail, according to court documents.

A preliminary hearing is set for 10 a.m. Sept. 17.
