Investigators say a fire that tore through a home in Northampton County appears to have been an accident.
The fire broke out Friday afternoon on Leeman Street in Palmer Township. The family didn't realize the home was on fire until a passer-by stopped and banged on the door.
Everyone was able to make it out safely.
Officials say the fire started outside near the rear of the home. The flames damaged the basement, two bedrooms, the attic, the roof and a car that was parked nearby.
Investigators are still trying to pinpoint the exact cause, but they do not believe the fire was set on purpose.
