Labor Day is usually a day celebrated with cookouts and barbecues.

Hundreds of union members and their families attended the Lehigh Valley Labor Council's picnic at the Wayne Grube Memorial Park in Northampton, Northampton Co., on Monday.

"We're acknowledging all the folks from organized labor, from our past, present and future, who have made this a national holiday," said Gregg Potter. "We're here to celebrate the efforts of all working men and women everywhere."

The Lehigh Valley Labor Council represents more than 41,000 union members in Lehigh and Northampton counties.

Pen Argyl, Northampton Co., marked Labor Day the same way it has for the past 78 years -- with a parade.

Lots of folks staked out a spot on the sidewalk to watch the bands, fire trucks and floats go by.

The parade capped off a weekend of events at Weona Park.
