LEHIGH COUNTY, Pa. -

A decision to lower a library tax in Lehigh County has sparked a legal challenge.

On Tuesday,  the Parkland School Board lowered a tax that funds the Parkland Community Library from point-3 mills, to point-1.

The library's lawyers argue that only voters can change the tax.. since the tax was established by a referendum in 1998.

They're now promising a legal fight.

But the district says it must adjust the tax to compensate for last year's county-wide property reassessment.

The district says tax revenue would triple without doing so.
