Poker player spits at fellow gambler over tip for dealer, police say
A poker player irked that another gambler didn't tip the dealer during their game of Texas Hold 'em spit in the man's face, officials said.
Michael C. Wert II got into an argument over the tip with Chad Lepes, who was sitting across the table from him at the Sands casino, 77 Sands Blvd., Bethlehem, then left his seat, walked over to Lepes and spit on the left side of his face at about 1 a.m. Wednesday, officials said.
Wert later admitted to police that he spit at Lepes, but told them his name as Scott Schultz; his address was 415 Road Armel Lane, Paxinos, Pa., and his birth date was Jan. 15, 1985, officials said.
Wert gave the correct information after Wert was told he would be taken to headquarters because officers could not confirm the information he had give them, officials said.
Wert, 27, of 2361 Stetler Dr., Coal Twp., Northumberland Co., was charged with giving false identification to police and harassment and released on $750 unsecured bail, according to court documents.
A preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. June 3.
