A Monroe County woman dressed all in pink was caught with drugs after leading police on a high-speed chase on Route 248 in Northampton County, officials said.

Desiree N. Ellis took off when she was told to hold her ground as she prepared to enter her gold 2000 Chrysler in the parking lot of a convenience store at 3820 Easton Nazareth Highway, Lower Nazareth Township, around 1:25 p.m. Thursday, officials said.

A male passenger in the car told her to ignore the officer's order and to "just leave," officials added.

The officer who was sent to the parking lot to investigate suspicious activity told the woman and the people who were with her not to get into the car after he smelled an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, officials noted.

Ellis fled west on Route 248, illegally passing several cars on the left, and when she was arrested trying to leave the vehicle near the South Broad Street intersection in Nazareth, police found marijuana in a plastic bag and in a glass jar, officials said.

Ellis, 24, of 296 Washington St., East Stroudsburg, was arraigned on charges of possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia, reckless endangerment and fleeing police and committed to the Northampton County Prison on $15,000 bail, according to court documents.

A preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. Nov. 14.
