UPPER MACUNGIE TOWNSHIP, Pa. -

An Upper Macungie motorcycle officer was injured Tuesday afternoon when he laid his motorcycle down on the roadway to avoid colliding with a truck pulling out in front of him.

The accident happened at 1:04 p.m. in the 7300 block of Industrial Boulevard in the township.

Officer William Rohrbach was treated at Lehigh Valley Hospital for what police called "non-life threatening injuries."

Rohrbach had both the lights and siren activated on his police Harley Davidson because he was on his way to assist another police officer. When the truck pulled out of the private driveway in front of him, he took evasive action by laying his motorcycle down on the road.

He was transported to the hospital by Cetronia Ambulance.

The 2005 Road King motorcycle received only minor damage.
