Suit alleges harassment, invasion of privacy
A police officer is suing his supervisor, plus the borough, for harassment.
Timothy Varga has filed a lawsuit against the borough of North Catasauqua, councilman William McGinley and Police Chief Kim Moyer.
In the suit, Varga alleges the defendants defamed his name and character by issuing "erroneous and inflammatory communications" in an article from 2010.
Varga also accuses the defendants of intentionally inflictied emotional distress, interfered with his business relationship with his employer, and invaded his privacy.
The suit asks for an amount in excess of $50,000 in economic and compensatory damages.
Varga joined the North Catasaqua police department in 2006.
In 2008, he was terminated, but filed a grievance and won his job back.
