BUSHKILL TOWNSHIP, Pa. -

A woman is facing charges for stealing more than $13,000 from a home in which she was a guest two years ago, police said.

Victoria M. Guzman was arrested Saturday in connection with the June 18, 2011 theft of $13,886 from a box hidden inside a home in the 200 block of Ruth Road in Bushkill Township, Northampton County.

At the time of the theft, Guzman was the girlfriend of the homeowners' son and she was staying with them.

The homeowners' son was able to recover $3,500 of the cash from Guzman, who promised the victims that she would repay the missing money, although she never did, officials said.

Guzman also sent an email to one of the homeowners on June 25, 2011, apologizing for stealing the money and promising restitution.

Guzman, 21, of 2833 Eagles Nest Lane, Upper Nazareth Township, Northampton County, was arraigned on charges of theft and receiving stolen property and committed to the Northampton County Prison on $25,000 bail, according to court documents.

A preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. July 30.
