ALLENTOWN, Pa. -

A suspicious substance caused quite a scare in Allentown on Monday.

Someone at Sacred Heart Hospital opened a letter containing a white powdery substance, officials said.

Hazmat crews were called to the scene at 421 W. Chew St., but no one was hurt and the hospital wasn't evacuated.

The scare was caused by an old card that disintegrated when it was opened, according to hospital officials.

No hazardous materials were in the card, officials said.

The Allentown Fire Department responded, and Sacred Heart staff followed procedures during the incident.
