ALLENTOWN, Pa. -

All 1,960 PPL customers who lost power Tuesday had it restored by 3 p.m. Wednesday.

Most customers had their power restored by 10 p.m. Tuesday. PPL spokesman Michael Wood said employees worked through the night to get  electric service restored for the rest.

This morning they found that the cause of the outage was two aerial lines that came in contact with one another. Wood was not sure of where the lines in question are located.

PPL officials said the outage occured around 5:30 p.m. in the area of Route 78 and Hamilton Boulevard, at the South Whitehall/Lower Macungie Township boundary.

It affected traffic lights in the area, causing delays on Hamilton Boulevard.

Among impacted businesses was the Walmart in Lower Macungie, where frozen foods had to be removed from cases because it was thawing.
