UPPER MACUNGIE TOWNSHIP, Pa. -

Some Lehigh Valley seniors will have a very merry Christmas, thanks to the kindness of the community.

The "Be a Santa to a Senior" program brought in hundreds of gifts for people who otherwise might have to do without.

Presents for more than 300 Lehigh Valley seniors in need were wrapped on Wednesday.

The Koze Family, owners of Home Instead Senior Care of Lehigh County and K builders started the program in 2004.

The project had humble beginnings.

Mary Ann Villanti of Home Instead said the program started "..with a mere 20 names. We weren't even sure we would get that many. Well that year we got 50 presents and it has mushroomed and mushroomed."

Now each year the Koze family works with local senior organizations and businesses to make sure everyone has something under the tree.

"We are very proud of our kids because we grew up in the valley and it's important to give back," said Phyllis Koze.

Once the wrapping is completed, then the delivery begins. Every present purchased by caring community members will be delivered by Christmas Eve..
