OREFIELD, Pa. -

Folks in Lehigh County were hoping baked goods would start a conversation about a disease they say not enough people know about.

An eighth grader at St Joseph the Worker School in Orefield is hoping to spread the word about carbon dioxide retention in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, known as COPD.

Her grandmother was diagnosed with the disease, which often causes the same symptoms as dementia and Alzheimer's.

She says she'll use money raised from the sale to print educational flyers about CO-2 retention and donate the rest to the COPD Foundation.
