Commuters in and out of New Jersey will have to contend with a detour for a few days this week.
Officials are setting up a detour of traffic on Route 611 near the Easton-Phillipsburg Toll Bridge (Route 22) starting at 9 a.m. Monday.
The closure of Route 611 will involve the section of roadway that crosses beneath Route 22 immediately west of the toll bridge in Easton.
Detour routes will be posted to guide Route 611 traffic in both directions via Third Street in Easton.
The Route 611 road closure is a planned element of the 2013 phase of a multi-faceted construction project undertaken by the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission.
The closure is necessary to allow crews to set up a construction crane and installation of new steel support beams for the replacement Route 22 approach bridge that is currently under partial construction.
The remainder of the bridge will be demolished and replaced in 2014.
The three-day Route 611 closure/detour is scheduled to be done by 5 p.m. Wednesday.
