The Lehigh Valley chapter of the Salvation Army said it's running short on donations this holiday season.

Officials were hoping to raise $300,000 through the annual Red Kettle campaign, but so far, the Salvation Army has collected only about $150,000.

Organizers said they've taken a hit because a lot of people use credit cards and don't carry change anymore, but you can also make a donation online.

"You can go into the website and choose the community you want to donate. If you want to donate to Pen Argyl or Easton, Bethlehem or Allentown, the donors can choose where they donate right online," said Maj. Alberto Suarez, Salvation Army.

The Red Kettle campaign will run through Christmas Eve, and organizers said they're hopeful they'll get pretty close to their goal.
