S.C. man told officers girlfriend he punched was injured when she hit the brakes, police say
A South Carolina man who punched his girlfriend in the face told police the woman injured herself when she hit the brakes while driving, officials said
Tyler D. Levermore was picked up in the 300 block of Larry Holmes Drive in Easton after walking away from a home a few blocks away in the 100 block of Rock Street where he assaulted a woman around 10:30 p.m. Monday, officials said.
Police found the woman outside the home with a bloody nose and a swollen left eye and lip, officials said, adding that Levermore said the woman was hurt when she slammed on her brakes while driving around Centre Square.
Levermore, 22, of Conway, S.C., was arraigned early Tuesday morning on charges of assault and harassment and committed to the Northampton County Prison on $10,000 bail, according to cour documents.
A preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. June 20.
