An Easton man took extreme measures to make sure his girlfriend stuck around to talk about their relationship, police said.
A man choked the mother of his child and then pushed into a dresser to make sure she wouldn't leave the room while they were discussing problems with their relationship, officials said.
Sean M. Nichol attacked the woman during an argument in their room in an apartment in the 1400 block of Lehigh Street in Easton at about 11:30 p.m. Saturday, officials said.
Nichol grabbed the victim by the throat and then pushed her several times, causing her to fall and hit her left shoulder on a dresser drawer, officials said.
Nichol's father told police he saw his son shove the woman into the dresser, after being awakened by the woman's cries for help, officials said.
Nichol yelled expletives continuously while standing in the street outside the home after police arrived, officials added.
Nichol, 21, was arraigned early Sunday morning on charges of assault, harassment and disorderly conduct and committed to the Northampton County Prison on $3,500 bail, according to court documents.
A preliminary hearing is set for 10 a.m. June 26.
