A Northampton County teacher who admitted to sexually abusing a student has learned his fate.
Shawn Salevsky was sentenced Wednesday to 4.5 to 11 years in prison. He was also found to be a sexually violent predator, so he will have to register under Megan's Law.
Salevsky was a theater teacher at Nazareth Middle School. Police said he sexually abused a student several times over the course of two years. Investigators said some of the incidents happened during the school day, on school property.
Salevsky later pleaded guilty to statutory sexual assault, indecent assault and corruption of minors.
In addition to working at Nazareth Middle School, Salevsky also worked at Holy Family School in Nazareth, William Allen High School in Allentown, the Lehigh Valley Charter School for the Performing Arts and the Civic Theatre.
