An unknown amount of juveniles have been identified by police as the vandals who set a statue on fire outside of an Emmaus church Sunday.

Around 7 a.m. on Sunday, an aflame statue of Jesus at St. Ann's Church was noticed by several people who then helped put the fire out.

Around $2,000 in damage costs were inflicted upon the statue.

Police have not given information about how many juveniles were involved in the crime.

Police do say, however, that the crime does not appear to have anti-religious motives, hate crime motives, nor does it appear that the church was targeted.

Instead police think the act was more likely just vandalism.

The Lehigh County Juvenile Probation Department will determine the resulting sanctions for the involved youths.
