A man who stole a flat screen TV from a home where he lives was turned in by his girlfriend's mother, officials said.
Steven E. Maxfield got into a pickup truck and drove off with a 32-inch Samsung LCD TV worth $500 after taking it out of 835 Williams St., Easton, around 11:45 a.m. last Tuesday.
Police were called to the address by the woman who owned the home, Alice Hewey, who also is the mother of Maxfield's girlfriend.
Hewey told police a neighbor saw Maxfield leaving the home with the TV.
Police spoke with the TV's owner, Shawn Demetrician, last Wednesday before arresting Maxfield.
Maxfield, 24, was arraigned Sunday on a theft charge and committed to the Northampton County Prison on $7,500 bail, according to court documents.
A preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. Aug. 8.
