A would-be robber walked away emptyhanded after police said he tried to rob a Lehigh University student at gunpoint Tuesday night in the 400 block of Fillmore Street in Bethlehem.
Officials said 19-year-old Stephen Rosa was with two other men when he pointed a pistol at the student and demanded cash and a cell phone.
Police say Rosa ran off after the student said he had no cash and refused to hand over his phone.
Rosa was caught a short time later following a description by the victim. The gun he allegedly used was also found nearby.
Students who live on Fillmore Street say they believe they're being targeted.
"We've been having problems with just local people in our area just taking advantage of our off campus housing when we're gone," said junior Kyle Katase.
“Last night, our neighbor told us that a car right across the street of another student got broken into. It's a little disconcerting that's it happening a couple feet from our house,” said senior Cal Stack.
Rosa now faces several charges including robbery and carrying a firearm without a license. Police are still looking for the other two men who were with Rosa.
