SUV driver 'panicked' after hit-and-run crash that hurt woman, police say
The driver of a SUV took off after he was involved in a crash that injured a woman, officials said.
David A. Soto told police who had stopped him late Friday afternoon in the 200 block of East Raspberry Street in Bethlehem that he "panicked" after the crash across town a short time before in the 300 block of Broadway, officials said.
Soto was driving his red 2001 Ford Expedition with an expired inspection sticker, officials noted.
A passenger in the vehicle he hit, April Brown, of the 500 block of Hess Street in Bethlehem, was taken to the hospital for treatment of rib and shoulder injuries, officials said.
Court papers do not give the circumstances of the crash or the woman's age.
Soto, 43, of 207 East Broad St., Bethlehem, was arraigned Saturday night on charges of failing to stop at the scene of an accident and driving with an expired inspection sticker and released on $15,000 unsecured bail, according to court documents.
A preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. Nov. 18.
