UPPER MACUNGIE TWP., Pa. -

Fire crews doused what remained of a truck that went up in flames on I-78 in Upper Macungie Township, Lehigh County.

The fire broke out around 12:45 p.m. Sunday on I-78 East near Route 309.

The driver of the truck said the truck suddenly stopped running. He then got out of the truck and noticed part of the gas tank had dropped onto the highway, going up in flames.

The fire quickly encased the truck, which was hauling an ATV.

The fire backed up traffic for miles. Both lanes of the highway were reopened to traffic around 2 p.m.
