Woman found with drugs after beating up her mother, police say
A woman who beat up her mother got into more trouble when police found drugs in her room, officials said.
Dezorae Mcjunkins grabbed her mother by the neck and struck her repeatedly in a room of a rooming house where they live in the 700 block of East 5th Street in Bethlehem around 2:30 p.m. Friday, officials said.
Two witnesses called police, who found the victim motionless on the floor with a large lump on her forehead and her daughter standing in a corner of the room a few feet away, officials said.
Police described the room as "completely destroyed," and they found a baggie of marijuana belonging to Mcjunkins during a search, officials said.
Mcjunkins, 21, was arraigned on charges of assault, harassment and drug possession and committed to the Northampton County Prison on $5,000 bail, according to court documents.
A preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. Nov. 27.
