Volunteers braved the cold, snowy weather this weekend to place wreaths on the frozen graves of those who defended our country.

Hundreds of people came out to Cedar Hill Memorial Park in Allentown on Saturday.

It was part of the national event 'Wreaths Across America." The event was started 20 years ago, but this was just it's second year here in the Lehigh Valley.

About 2,800 wreaths were placed on the snow covered graves of veterans.

Volunteers hope it symbolizes a commitment to honor and respect the heroes who served our country.

Al Lieb, of the Patriot Guard Riders of PA, said,  "I think it's a very important thing for our country to remember those who have served and are still serving our country, and we should never forget those who have gone before us."

Local families who's loved ones died in service were also presented with wreaths in their honor.
