Major retailers across the Lehigh Valley are bringing on seasonal workers to help with the upcoming holiday rush. And the applications are already pouring in.

"We are currently seeking applications," shared Jared Lyman, Executive Team Leader of Human Resources for Target's Cedar Crest Boulevard location.

He says holiday hiring is in full swing. Job seekers could have a part-time spot for the next two months.

"We're looking to hire about sixty people in the store, and bring them on as seasonal team members until about the month of January."

The store is hoping to fill over-night back room and stocking positions, and bring in folks for the front of the store working as cashiers.

"We also have sales floor positions that help our guests," added Lyman. "Their main job is to make sure everybody leaves with what they need for the holiday."

The temporary staff handles the extra inventory, and extra shoppers brought on by the holiday rush.

"We get really, really busy, we're one of the busiest Target stores in the country, so little Allentown gets pretty busy here during the holidays," Lyman smiled.

Nationwide, Target plans to bring on 70,000 Christmas-time workers, and they're not alone. Wal-Mart will take on 55,000 new jobs, and Toys R Us hopes to hire 45,000 seasonal workers.
