BETHLEHEM, Pa. -

A man was arrested for allegedly choking his pregnant girlfriend, dragging her down the stairs and biting her after she took his sunglasses, officials said.

James S. Cruciani, 18, is accused of assaulting Cassandra Butryn-Green in their home at 910 Weston Place on Monday.

Butryn-Green took a pair of sunglasses from Cruciani's shirt, and while she was on the phone with her grandmother, Cruciani allegedly began choking her and dragging her down the stairs, officials said.

After Butryn-Green went to her room and started to pack her clothes, Cruciani allegedly bit her on her right leg, officials said.

Cruciani was arraigned Monday night on assault and harassment charges and committed to Northampton County Prison on $15,000 bail, according to court documents.

A preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. Aug. 30.
