BETHLEHEM, Pa. -

Police have made an arrest in connection with an assault on a woman in the bathroom of her home three months ago.

Jean-Carlos Morales-Benitez was taken into custody on Friday, officials said. He's accused of breaking into an apartment he once shared with Vivian Feliciano at 1039 Mechanic St. in Bethlehem on April 16, police said.

Feliciano told police she tried to ignore Morales-Benitez  when she found him in the apartment, but that when she went to take a shower in the bathroom, he followed her inside and to tried to sexually assault her.

When she resisted, Feliciano said Morales-Benitez hit her 10 times with a balled fist on her right arm and then took her cell phone from her purse and broke it, police said.

Morales-Benitez, 21, was charged with criminal trespass, burglary, simple assault, indecent assault, and harassment.

He was committed to Northampton County Prison on $30,000 bail, according to court documents.

A preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. Friday.
