Police have arrested a man for allegedly fighting with his girlfriend over giving their child a bath.

Police were called to 455 S. Nulton Ave. in Palmer Twp.., Northampton Co., around 11 p.m. Tuesday and found Timothy Adeleye in the basement with his girlfriend, Georgine Tasker, officials said.

Tasker told police she began arguing with Adeleye because he didn't give their 4-year-old son a bath, officials said.

Adeleye followed Tasker into a bathroom, splashed water in her face, began kicking her, and tried to spit on her, officials said.

When Tasker tried to get away, Adeleye allegedly grabbed her left arm and then began strangling her, officials said.

Adeleye, 49, was arraigned early Wednesday morning on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault and harassment, officials said. He was committed to the Northampton County Prison on $10,000 bail, according to court documents.

A preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. Aug. 3.
