Man sentenced for robbing bank, trying to kill cop

ALLENTOWN, Pa. -

A man convicted for his role in a brazen bank robbery may end up spending the rest of his life behind bars.

Hishamu Curry was sentenced Monday to 30 to 60 years in state prison.

Curry, 36, of Philadelphia, and Isaah Sampson, were convicted last November of all charges, including attempted homicide, robbery and assault, for the holdup of the KNBT bank on Main Street in Emmaus, Lehigh Co., in Dec. 2010.

The men pistol-whipped a bank employee during the robbery and then fired shots at officers as they tried to get away, police said.

Sentencing for Sampson, of Allentown, was postponed to April 16.

A third co-defendant, Edward Maye, already pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 22-1/2 to 45 years in state prison.
