A Northampton County middle school was a sea of pink Friday in an effort to put a stop to bullying.

Northampton Middle School participated in an event called "Go Pink, Stand up to Bullying."

It's an international effort that began after a freshman boy in Canada was bullied for wearing pink to school.

One of the school counselors says it is up to the students to put a stop to bullying.

"The powers within them to stand up for each other and make each other feel that acceptance while they're here at school," said counselor Kate Carney.

Because so many students were decked out in pink, the school's principals sprayed their hair pink during the assembly.
