Northampton man facing charges for choking father, police say

A man is facing charges for assaulting his father, officials said.

Ryan M. Malitsch grabbed his father, William M. Malitsch, by the throat, pushed him against a wall and started choking him in their home at 408 McKeever Lane, Northampton, Northampton Co., at 7:50 p.m. Monday, officials said.

Court papers do not give a reason why Ryan Malitsch attacked his father, but they say police were called to the Maitsch home earlier in the day to investigate a possible burglary.

Ryan Malitsch, 19, was arraigned on assault and harassment charges and committed to the Northampton County Prison on $15,000 bail, according to court documents.

A preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. Dec. 27.
