March is national Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, so two Olympus employees shared their personal stories of survival with their co-workers on Wednesday.

The goal of the event was to raise awareness about the disease and the importance of early screening.

The survivors who spoke said the cancer is preventable, but it's all about being proactive.

"Find out if it's in your genetic bloodline, and if so, notify your doctor immediately and find out what's the best regiment for you because it could be the best decision of your life, because it certainly was for me."

The CDC said colon cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the U.S.
