Orasure company wins FDA approval for DNA device

A subsidiary of a Bethlehem company has received FDA approval for device to collect saliva for collecting DNA.
DNA Genotek, a subsidiary of OraSure Technologies, Inc., received FDA 510(k) clearance Thursday for the Oragene-Dx collection device.
That means doctors and clinics can use this device to provide patients a non-invasive way to collect DNA using saliva instead of a blood test. It can be used for genetic testing as well as for infectious disease sampling.
DNA Genotek is based in Ontario, Canada.
