Police look for burly burglars stealing storm grates in Bethlehem
Residents urged to be on lookout for holes where grates should be
Bethlehem police are looking for whomever has been stealing the city's 100-pound storm grates.
As of Tuesday, 39 storm grates have been stolen in the last week, usually between the hours of 3 p.m. and 7 a.m., police said.
Residents are urged to be cautious when walking in case someone has taken a storm grate and the city hasn't had time to replace it or cover the hole.
The grates are valued at around $250 each and are usually stolen for scrap, or to weigh down items being sold for scrap, police said.
Anyone with information about the stolen grates is asked to contact Detective Fulmer at 610-997-7682 or Detective Lt. DiLuzio at 610-865-7672.
