ALLENTOWN, Pa. -

Allentown police arrested a man they said tried to rob a clothing store in the city Saturday afternoon, and store employees aided in the arrest.

It happened at the Family Mart in the 700 block of West Allen Street just after 2 pm.

Police said Eduardo Rodriguez-Rosario, 40, of Allentown, attempted to steal a t-shirt from the store when he was confronted by the store owner.

Rodriguez-Rosario then pulled a knife on the store owner, according to police.

A scuffle inside the store ensued, but employees were able to lock Rodriguez-Rosario inside the store so he couldn't leave, police said.

The employees were able to restrain him, knocked the knife out of his hand, and held him until police arrived.

Rodriguez-Rosario is charged with robbery, recklessly endangering another person, simple assault and theft.
